The former beauty queen began life as VanessaLynn Williams on March 18, 1963 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Helen Tinch (mother) and Milton Augustine Williams Jr. (father). She was baptized at Our Lady of Grace Church in the Bronx and was raised in the Catholic Christian faith, with her parents being faithful followers of the Christian religion.

At this time when she had become a public figure, some controversies followed her. First, it was the question of another Vanessa A.
