WASHINGTON (TND) — Meta announced "issues" with its social media platforms were resolved.
Hundreds of thousands of users reported that they were kicked off the platforms Tuesday morning.
"Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience," posted Andy Stone, a Meta spokesperson.
According to downdetector.com, more than 500,000 reports about Facebook being down were made.
Over 50,000 users reported outages for Instagram and more than 10,000 were made for Messenger.
Meta's newest social networking service, Threads, also experienced an outage.
Over 600 reports indicated problems on that platform, according to downdetector.com.
DownDetector is a website that monitors online outages.
Users reported that they received "failure to load" error pages.
The company's apps were also affected.
Stone acknowledged the reported outages earlier on X, posting that the company is "aware" and they are "working" on it.
"We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now," posted Andy Stone, a Meta spokesperson.
"Facebook" and "Mark Zuckerberg" were trending on X during the outage.
X users sounded off about Tuesday's outage.
"Anyone else freak out and think they was being hacked," asked an X user.
In addition to #Facebookdown and #Instagramdown posts, users on X are posting reaction videos poking fun at the outage.
