Springfield Fire responded to the fire at 126 East Street in Springfield around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, the Department of Fire Services (DFS) reports. Upon arrival, firefighters found the two-stry, single-family home fully engulfed in flames.

Crews battled the blaze for about two hours before it was extinguished, DFS said. The victims names were not released but officials believe they were related to each other.

“Our hearts go out to the family who lost loved ones this morning,” Springfield Fire Commissioner Bernard J. Calvi said.

The house, which was built in 1947, was 1,512 square feet with three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, according to a Zillow listing

While the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, preliminary evidence suggests it was accidental, according to DFS. No other information was released.
