ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down Tuesday in Elk County as severe storms moved through the region.
The tornado touched down just before 3 p.m. northwest of Weedville and damaged several trees, the NWS says.
Weather officials say pictures show tree damage concentrated along a narrow path along Old Byrnedale Road and Route 255.
They say several trees were uprooted or snapped.
According to the NWS, the tornado had an EF rating of 1, and peak winds reached about 90 mph.
They add that the path length was a little over half-a-mile with a width of about 125 yards.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In a video captured by Cory Tamburlin, a rapidly rotating funnel can be seen about half a mile southwest of Route 255.
A ridge line obstructs the view of the ground in the video, but the NWS says a radar-indicated tornado debris signature supports the idea that the tornado touched down and lofted debris.
