This week's “Throwback Thursday” is fitting, as many of us have college basketball on the mind.
This was the scene at Penn State 10 years ago.
Students and community members lined up to pile into 12 charter buses.
For $20, fans were able to take the trip to Madison Square Garden in New York City, where the Nittany Lions were playing in the NIT and the fans would not be disappointed.
The 2009 Nittany Lions faced off against the Baylor Bears in the championship game.
They were led by head coach Ed Dechellis, but he wasn't the only Penn State coach in attendance.
Eighty-two-year-old Joe Paterno was there getting the crowd pumped up, and they had plenty of reason to cheer. Talor Battle scored all 12 of his points in a strong second half for the Nittany Lions, but his scoring spree would be topped by the 18 points netted by forward Jamelle Cornley.
When the clock struck zero at MSG, the Nittany Lions were victorious, with a final score of 69-63.
This broke a pretty lengthy drought for the team.
According to The Associated Press, their last post season title before this came back in 1991 in the Atlantic 10 championship game.
