WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — An Amber Alert issued for two missing children in Zanesville, Ohio led to the arrest of a man in Washington County Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police say.
According to a press release, the Amber Alert issued alerted people to be on the lookout for a stolen gold Chevrolet Suburban with Ohio plates with two children in the back of the vehicle.
State police say someone recognized the vehicle traveling in the area of Jefferson Avenue in Canton Township, Washington County, at 7:44 p.m. and notified police.
The press release states that Washington City police officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrested Thomas Edward Pritchard Jr., 46.
The press release also states that Pritchard was found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance.
According to state police, the children were found in the back of the vehicle and evaluated by EMS personnel.
Online court dockets show that Pritchard faces two felony charges of child endangerment where a parent or guardian commits the offense, one felony charge of receiving stolen property, two charges of recklessly endangering another person, one charge of impairment and being incapable of driving safely, one charge of driving with a high blood alcohol concentration and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Court dockets also show that Pritchard is currently being held in the Washington County Prison and that he was denied bail due to being a flight risk and a threat to the community, and that he has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 5.
