Some businesses in Centre County came together to help an area fire company after it canceled its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Millheim Fire Company canceled its annual fire company carnival due to pandemic restrictions. Firefighters say it's one of their major fundraisers that help them pay for insurance on fire trucks and equipment.

As a result, Penns Valley businesses came together to support the fire company with donations.

The fire company received more than $17,000 from businesses like Poorman's Welding, Con-stone Inc., A&M Lodging and Breezy Acres Flowers among others.

Firefighters say they are thankful for the donations.
