Penn State unveils new exhibit honoring Nittany Lion athletes who served in WWII

Opening at Penn State on Friday, the All-Sports Museum will be hosting a new exhibit called "I am a Penn Stater: Nittany Lions in World War II."

The exhibit will be open through June 1, 2025, in the museum's second-floor changing exhibition gallery.

It features more than 1,200 Nittany Lion varsity lettermen and women's recreation association athletes during the war, following them from their training, to fighting or working with the Red Cross, and onto postwar occupations.

“The bulk of what we have on display came from the families of the service members we looked up. Part of our research process was to both research the individual and track down the families. I've always felt it's important to get that personal individual story. That's what really humanizes any topic."

The Penn State All-Sports Museum is located at the southwest corner of Beaver Stadium.

It's open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
