LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Paramount Television President Amy Powell has been fired following alleged racially charged remarks made during an internal meeting last week.

In a memo, Paramount CEO Jim Gianopulos explained that multiple employees had raised concerns about Powell’s comments, sparking an internal investigation by the company.

The memo read: “Having spent the past several days conducting a thorough investigation into this matter and speaking to those who were present, our Human Resources and Legal teams came to the same conclusion, and we have made the decision to terminate Amy’s employment, effective immediately.”

According to THR, the incident in question allegedly took place during a studio notes call for Paramount Network’s First Wives Club reboot, which is set to feature a predominantly black cast.

Powell, who was brought on board in 2013 to oversee the network’s newly relaunched Paramount Television division and has since delivered hits including ’13 Reasons Why’ and ‘The Alienist,’ has denied making the insensitive comments.
