With all of the unrest in the country right now, one local businessowner says he's seeing an increase in sales.

The owner of Hunters Warehouse in Bellefonte, Thomas Engle, says he has seen a dramatic increase in people from both in and out of state purchasing guns and ammunition.

Supplies have been hard to get for the past year and he doesn't really know why.

Various types of firearms are being sold such as pistols and hunting rifles.

He says sales have been so good that he's literally working day and night to keep the store stocked with merchandise.

"People are scared about the civil unrest,” Engle says. “They're scared about losing their gun rights. They're scared about losing the opportunity to buy what they want. They're simply scared That they're not going to be able get ammunition. Nobody understands this ammo shortage. There's really no one answer that anybody can say for sure what's going on."

The owner also says it's good to see increase in sales during the ongoing pandemic, especially when small businesses continue to suffer financially.
