Ambulance 61 is getting a new member! Who is the new paramedic on Chicago Fire? Keep reading for everything there is to know about Brett’s replacement.
Chicago Fire is NBC’s hit procedural that follows the professional and personal lives of the firefighters, rescue personnel, and paramedics at the Chicago Fire Department’s fictional Firehouse 51. Produced by Dick Wolf, the series is the first installment of the One Chicago franchise, which includes the spinoffs Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. It first premiered in 2012 and is currently on its 12th season.
Kara Killmer, who starred as fan-favorite paramedic Sylvie Brett for seasons 3-12, exited the show during the sixth episode of Season 12, which saw Brett marry her longtime love Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer). Her departure opened up a spot on Ambulance 61, leaving fans wondering who will fill it. Ahead of the Season 12 premiere, showrunner Andrea Newman revealed that Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) would be stepping up and taking over Brett’s role as Paramedic in Charge. “That’s part of the great Violet journey this year, as she continues to grow as a character and gets to step into a leadership position on ambo, too,” she told TVLine. The exec also teased that Violet would be getting a new direct report. “There will be somebody new coming in and they’ll be working under Violet,” Newman said.
Paramedic Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) briefly filled the spot for two episodes, but he proved to be a bad fit and was quickly fired. So, who will ride with Violet now? We have the answer below.
Who is the new paramedic on Chicago Fire?
Who is the new paramedic on Chicago Fire? Actress Jocelyn Hudon will be joining Ambulance 61 as Brett’s replacement, but her character’s name has not yet been revealed.
According to Deadline, Hudon will be coming on board in a recurring role with the option to become a series a regular, so she could be sticking around for good. It definitely sounds like she’ll at least last longer than Lennox, who joined Ambulance 61 during the Season 12 episode “Red Flag.” He got off to a rough start with Violet by disobeying her orders and undermining her authority on several occasions. It was later revealed that Lennox was strategically hired by Paramedic Field Chief Robinson (Laura Allen) as a way to get Chief Wallace Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) name off the shortlist of a job they were both up for. After several more incidents involving Lennox, Boden finally fired the paramedic and fans couldn’t have been happier to see him go.
Hudon has starred in several Hallmark movies, including 2024’s Falling in Love in Niagara and Romance with a Twist, so perhaps she’ll be bring some romance with her to the Windy City. Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) is one of the only remaining single characters, but Violet has a bit of a flirtation going on with him. Will she and her new direct report find themselves in a messy love triangle? Only time will tell.
Aside from Hallmark, Hudon’s other credits include Netflix’s The Order, FX’s Dave and Apple TV’s Acapulco. She’s also guest starred on The Irrational, The Rookie: Feds, 9-1-1 and Criminal Minds.
Chicago Fire airs on NBC on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST and streams on Peacock.
