Jacksonville, Fla. (CelebrityAccess) Forget about sweet home Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd is about to have an epic, farewell homecoming concert in Jacksonville, Fla.
The city is where the band began 40 years go, and the event is scheduled for Everbank Field Sept. 2.
The band will have special guests: Kid Rock and Jason Aldean – one of the few times lately either has played a stadium before another act. The Labor Day weekend appearance, produced by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Bold Events, is scheduled as an all-day (and all-night) affair with food trucks, games, etc.
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Kan and the city’s mayor, Lenny Curry, recently got into the act, making the announcement alongside band members Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocks held at the Jaguars’ annual State of the Franchise presentation.
