Starting Monday, May 20, and lasting through Thursday, May 23, the eastbound Long Island Expressway will be closed in the following parts of Oyster Bay and Hempstead:
- On Monday, May 20, Exit 34 (New Hyde Park Road) and Exit 36 (Searingtown Road) will be closed;
- On Tuesday, May 21, Exit 37 (Willis Avenue) and Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road) will be closed; and
- On Wednesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 23, Exit 39 (State Route 106) and Exit 41 (State Route 107) will be closed.
The closures will last between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., are weather-dependent, and will facilitate a bridge cleaning project.
Drivers using the eastbound LIE during that time will be detoured to South Service Road.
The New York State Department of Transportation also reminded drivers that fines for speeding in a work zone are doubled.
