Joe was one of the guitarists of Post Animal, the Chicago-based garage and psych-rock band. Their 1st album was released in October 2015.

In his early 20’s he also released music under the name ‘Cool Cool Cool’.

In 2016, he starred in the movie ‘The Charnel House’ as Scott. From 2016 to date he starred as Steve Harrington in the famous series ‘Stranger Things’ in season 1 as a recurring role and in season 2 as the main role.

In the year 2017, he worked in the movie ‘’Molly’s Game’ as Trust Fund Cole.

In 2018, he worked in 2 movies titled ‘After Everything’ as Chris and ‘Slice’ as Jackson. In April 2018, he was the guitarist of Post Animal, he was part of the album ‘When I Think of You in a Castle’. However, he soon left the group after that.

In 2019, he worked in the short film titled ‘How to be Alone’ as Jack. The same year he also starred in an episode of the series ‘No Activity’.

On 19 July 2019, he released his 1st single titled ‘Roddy’ as a solo artist under Moniker Djo. On 9 August 2019, he released his 2nd single titled ‘Chateau (Feel Alright)’ under the moniker Djo again. On 13 September 2019, he released his debut album ‘Twenty Twenty’.

In 2020, he starred in the movie ‘Spree’ as Kurt Kunkle. The same year he also starred in the TV special ‘Death to 2020’ as Duke Goolies.

On 9 September 2020, he released a new single titled ‘Keep Your Head Up’. In the year 2021, shot for the movie ‘Free Guy’ as Keys.

For the year 2022, he has been working on some projects but he has desired a bit of a break from the industry as well.

Joe Keery has been romantically linked with actress Maika Monroe since 2017, after first meeting on the set of their movie After Everything.
