Home Depot removes 'peeping tom' decoration after complaints

Home Depot in Canada has pulled a Halloween decoration off of its shelves following complaints from customers.

The decoration is called the “Scary Pepper Creeper.”

The description on Home Depot’s website read that the decoration’s “realistic face looks just like a real man is peering through the window at you.”

However, one customer didn’t see the humor in the decoration.

She said the product “makes light” of a serious situation.

Complaints from other customers followed after many of them compared the decoration to infamous Canadian serial killer Paul Bernardo.

“We agree that this is not in line with our core values, and when we heard, took immediate action and are currently in the process of removing this product from our assortment,” Home Depot spokeswoman Emily DiCarlo told CBC.

As of Thursday night the product is available in U.S. Home Depot stores and online.

The decoration was created by a company called “Scary Peeper,” which is also based in the U.S.

An online search shows the “Scary Peeper Creeper” is sold on their website and by several other big-box online retailers.
