LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A former Lackawanna County defense attorney who pleaded guilty to soliciting sex acts for legal services has been sentenced.
Corey Kolcharno was sentenced Thursday to four to 23 months in prison, followed by 2 years probation for providing legal services to female clients in exchange for sexual acts and materials.
He had previously pleaded guilty to four felony counts of promoting prostitution.
Kolcharno was also required to surrender his license to practice law as part of the plea agreement.
He was charged back in August 2022 following an investigation that revealed the acts occurred between 2018 to 2022 while he was working as a defense attorney at Fanucci & Kolcharno law firm in Blakely, according to police.
Police say that the investigation into Kolcharno revealed that many of his female clients struggled with addiction, had a history of being sexually abused, or suffered from other vulnerabilities; officials allege that he systemically exploited these vulnerabilities for his own sexual gratification.
The investigation found that Kolcharno typically initiated contact with the women by speaking bout their legal matters. As stated in court documents, he would further the conversation by complimenting them and if the victims didn't turn down his advances, he would then request nude photos of them or worn undergarments as a form of payment for his legal services.
