Following the crash, an Audi A6 carrying two relatives of the Odyssey occupants had stopped on the right shoulder. Those occupants crossed both travel lanes to speak with the occupants in the Odyssey. Two of the minivan's occupants remain in the vehicle while two were standing in the left lane.

Police say a tractor-trailer traveling north then lost control and struck the disabled Odyssey's driver-side.

In total, four pedestrians were struck, with three suffering fatal injuries. The two occupants inside the minivan were also fatally injured.

The five deceased victims, all from New York have been identified by Pennsylvania State Police:

The driver of the Audi sedan, a 22-year-old male from Johnson City, sustained moderate injuries, while the driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.
